Tampere is a TIDE Champion City on electric mobility.
Financing schemes for charging stations
Traffic is one of the main contributors
to emissions but it has a great potential for
emission reductions as well. In addition to efficient and smooth public
transport, private cars are still needed and used. Thus Tampere will promote
low emission vehicles, such as electric vehicles, and support their use. Public
charging infrastructure is naturally needed if the general targets of cleaner
private cars will be achieved.
The impact of the measure would be the
increased general awareness of eMobility, easily accessible and easy to use
charging infrastructure and economically feasible EV charging in the city.
Tampere would strengthen its position as an innovative and environmentally
aware city with business orientation. The strong ITS (intelligent transport
system) sector expertise will be included as well, and there will be effective
synergies between the eMobility and ITS sectors. Since the electric vehicles
are zero emission vehicles, positive environmental impacts can also be
